Our Story:
All my life I have owned BIG dogs, but as I got older I found
that they were getting alot to handle. So I decided to downsize.
Enter...... Papito Chulo, AKA Popi, 4 pounds of pure energy.
Popi needed friends his size, but I found it hard to find
them. Couldn't take him to the puppy park, the dogs there
thought of him more as an snack food than a playmate.
I finally found the Austin Chihuahua Meet-Up gang,

, and for one day a month he was so happy being with
little ones his size.
That was when the idea of a day and vacation care started
to form. As I started looking into this type business I found
that they kept our little ones in cages or kennels, and took
them out to be played with only a few times a day,more if
you wanted to pay extra. That was when it became clear I needed
to give these little guys a "Home Away from Home."
There would be no cages or kennels, no regimented playtimes,
and most importantly, NO BIG DOGS!!!
On April of 2005, I opened my home to have a place where there
are pillows and little doggie beds spread throughout the house.
When boarding overnight, we offer our queen-size bed for sleeping
if that is where they want to be, or maybe snuggled together
with a new friend, the choice is theirs.
A large back yard to play in. And lots of love and hugs the
whole time, not just a few times a day. During this playtime,
we work on social skills, manners, and maybe a new command
or trick, but it is done it a fun way.
Home Away from Home is a unique and totally different concept
for a day and vacation care facility.
But don't let the homey type situation fool you. All my dogs and the dogs in my care are all vetted properly, flea free, and healthy. I take the care and health of my charges
very seriously!!! So please... do your little one a favor.. bring
him to the most unique social club and boarding home in Austin.
Where it is truly a home away from home.
